Old Navy In-Store Cardi Party

I love Old Navy! And I love Old Navy Cardis! So when I found out as an Old Navy Style Council Member through Crowdtap, I was chosen to play hostess for an Old Navy Cardi Party I was super excited!!! AND the even more amazing news: I got coupons for myself and three friends for an Old Navy Cardigan, Scarf & Skirt!! WOW!!! I called three of my closest friends and we set a date for our fun day!

When we arrived at Old Navy, the manager and staff were very friendly and helpful guiding us to the skirts and cardigans. As always, I love the bright colors, patterns and variety of styles Old Navy offers. My friends and I had fun perusing the store, pairing different pieces together to see what might make an outfit just right for each of us!

I love that there is a scarf to fit everyone’s style!
So many great colors, fabrics and designs to choose from!

And I am a HUGE shoe fan! I wore the yellow ballet flat to complete my look.
They were perfect! Look at all these cute shoes!

As always, great outfit ideas! And lots of bright colors!

I had looked online and already knew which skirt I wanted to try on.
The royal blue corduroy pencil skirt. I love it!!!

NEXT STOP: THE DRESSING ROOM!!

HMMMM....WHAT TO TRY ON FIRST!

Old Navy cardigans are super soft and a go to staple piece in my Fall/Winter wardrobe. I was excited to add one more for FREE! I am always drawn to bright colors and patterns but chose a white cardigan to pair with my bright royal blue pencil skirt and black/white/yellow patterned scarf!
First Outfit. I like it, but not sure if it's the one.

Here's the Winner! I love it!

Mindy found hers! Perfect color combination
for her cheery personlaity!

Jenny deciding on her scarf. I think she needs more color!

There, that's better! Perfect in Pink!

Posing Pretty Around the Store!

We had so much fun trying on our selections, finding our favorite outfit and then posing around the store, taking pictures and laughing! And Melissa found a great new outfit to start her new job the following week! Great timing!! We not only each took away an amazing, new FREE outfit that we loved, but also made wonderful memories as well!

Thank you so much OLD NAVY & CROWDTAP!!!!
YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME!!!

Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell Premiere

I was selected to host a Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell Premiere Party. I have to admit that I am not totally biased myself but there was a lot of entertaining content and my guests and I laughed a lot. I liked that even though some of his jokes might be offensive to some, he didn’t overstep and was still respectful while maintaining his biased position.

W. Kamau Bell started off his show by talking about people who were complaining on Twitter about Olympic Gold Medalist Gabby Douglas’ hair. I liked how he turned the jokes around on the Tweeters – especially “Lumpy Space Princess” – who has a username like that, LOL?! And the one who tweeted “Gabby Douglas need her hair did.” Which his reply was something to the effect of “You need your education did!” He also said that a perm would have gotten Gabby a silver. And a weave would have gotten her a bronze. “She won by a hair.” I bet even Gabby giggled at that. :)

I was also surprised to learn of some racial profiling going on in our country in the city of Harlam called “Stop & Frisk”. It seems that cops can pull up on the sidewalk and just start frisking anyone for no reason. He had a funny, lighthearted take on it by interviewing guys that have been frisked while bringing it to light and making it seem even more ridiculous! He suggested to keep it interesting for the cops by filling your pockets with oatmeal, sushi and wasabi in the other pocket, a hot pocket, magician’s handkerchiefs, etc. I thought that was pretty creative.

For our party, we played the Totally Biased Toss-Up where we each wrote a bias of our own and drew them out of a hat. We were able to guess them pretty easily because we all know each others handwriting and also know each other pretty well.

I also told my guests a little about the show from the digital party kit I received.

Here is some of what I shared from my packet:

About The Show:
"On FX's new late night comedy series Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell, Bell will dissect a multitude of topics including politics, pop culture, race, religion, and the media. The series will feature his commentary along with features from other contributors and sketch comedy."

 About W. Kamau Bell:
"W. Kamau Bell is one of the fastest rising socio-political comics in the United States. A founding member of the stand-up comedy collective Laughter Against the Machine, he is also co-host of  The Field of Negro Guide to Arts & Culture podcast with Living Colour guitarist Vernon Reid." You can read more about him here -> http://www.wkamaubell.com/ or on Facebook.

Then we watched the premiere. (If you missed it click on the premiere link to the left and it will take you to the hulu.com where you can watch the full show for free). My friends and I ate cookies & popcorn and enjoyed laughing together!

I’ll be interested to see what other material W. Kamau Bell comes up with for future Totally Biased shows. I think it definitely helps that Chris Rock guest starred and is producing the show. If Chris thinks he’s funny, so will the rest of the world!

Thank you Crowdtap for another fun opportunity to throw a party!
